“Live at the Sofa Sessions” release date announced!
well friends, it’s finally here: a release date has been set for the live Sofa Session album. recorded over 2 nights last year (Aug 12 and 13th, 2010), it will be released by Believe Digital on October 14th. for now, it will be a download-only release, with the possibility of a future physical release. more details will be announced soon…
sorry that it has taken so long for this album to become available, but many circumstances and changes, both personal and professional, contributed to the delay. i am extremely pleased with the record (i think it’s one of my best), and i am very excited for you to hear it.

new Berlin full-band show announced!
hey Berlin friends-
check out my Tourdates page for all info on a show that i’ve been asked to play for the Bundesministerium für Verkehr, Bau, und Stadtentwicklung. (for my non-German friends: that’s the German Ministry of Traffic, Construction, and City Development. it’s a long title, i know.)
it sounds very “official”, but really it’s a lovely daytime concert in a Biergarten atmosphere. my band and i will play from 3:30-5pm on saturday, August 20. the concert is free, and the place is right in Mitte; close to the Hauptbahnhof, very easy to find…
so i hope you will join us. i didn’t expect or plan to have any more full-band shows in Berlin this year, so i am very happy to share this one with you. there are no more concerts (solo OR band) scheduled this year, as i will begin work on my next studio record, to be released next year.

summer news, on a non-summery day.
hello there-
it’s raining cats and even some dogs in Berlin. i normally really like summer rain, but it’s a bit too cold and stormy for my nostalgia nerve to be tickled by it today…
i hope it’s a perfect summer week, because i have friends coming to Berlin from LA, and they’ve only ever been here in winter before, so i want them to experience the magic of summer in Berlin. one of them is my good old friend David Green, who played guitar with me in LA for 6 years, and played on ALL my solo records that i released during my “LA years”, as well as some cameo work on my “Bend” record. we will hit the stage together for the the first time since 2008 this wednesday, july 27th on the Badeschiff in Berlin, joined also by my friend Mowat on keys and vocals. i’m really looking forward to this.
also, i’ve been invited by RadioEins here in Berlin (my favorite Berlin radio station, right there with MotorFM) to do an interview and live performance on tuesday evening, july 26th, from 7:30-8pm. would be nice if you wanna listen.
i have been incredibly lucky this year to have been able to spend virtually every day watching my tiny daughter grow from a little wrinkly kitten to the 8-month-old monkey she is today. this amazing journey has been my priority, and so i have been relatively inactive with concerts, touring, etc. as i become able to re-dedicate more time to music, i will be recording my next studio record, planned for release in 2012. i have already written over 30 new songs, and continue to write daily, and the new record will contain some of those songs and others not yet written. then, next year, the record will “drop” and the touring will resume!! i am very excited to continue the work at a furious pace, but i am beyond joyous that i have been able to spend virtually all of my time with my wife and our daughter in this amazingly precious phase.

2 weeks ago, my band and i played for about 400 amazing fans at Berlin’s Kesselhaus in the legendary Kulturbrauerei. the evening was presented by Florena, who used my song “Side of the Road” last year in an advertising campaign, and were so happy with the response to the song that they decided to organize a whole concert evening for my fans. this was quite nice of them.
my band and i played almost 2 hours, and it felt like we could have played another 2. this concert was the only full-band show for 2011, since i’ll be working on completing a new studio album for release in 2012. the night at Kesselhaus was a fantastic way to say thank you to all the fans and friends who have been so supportive of me since my arrival in Berlin 2 1/2 years ago.
over the coming months, i’ll post videos of me writing new songs, recording demos, working in the studio, and other updates. anything i have to share with you, i’ll post here or on Facebook. so, please check back often, as i’ll try to always have something new and even possibly interesting.
