summer news, on a non-summery day.
hello there-
it’s raining cats and even some dogs in Berlin. i normally really like summer rain, but it’s a bit too cold and stormy for my nostalgia nerve to be tickled by it today…
i hope it’s a perfect summer week, because i have friends coming to Berlin from LA, and they’ve only ever been here in winter before, so i want them to experience the magic of summer in Berlin. one of them is my good old friend David Green, who played guitar with me in LA for 6 years, and played on ALL my solo records that i released during my “LA years”, as well as some cameo work on my “Bend” record. we will hit the stage together for the the first time since 2008 this wednesday, july 27th on the Badeschiff in Berlin, joined also by my friend Mowat on keys and vocals. i’m really looking forward to this.
also, i’ve been invited by RadioEins here in Berlin (my favorite Berlin radio station, right there with MotorFM) to do an interview and live performance on tuesday evening, july 26th, from 7:30-8pm. would be nice if you wanna listen.
i have been incredibly lucky this year to have been able to spend virtually every day watching my tiny daughter grow from a little wrinkly kitten to the 8-month-old monkey she is today. this amazing journey has been my priority, and so i have been relatively inactive with concerts, touring, etc. as i become able to re-dedicate more time to music, i will be recording my next studio record, planned for release in 2012. i have already written over 30 new songs, and continue to write daily, and the new record will contain some of those songs and others not yet written. then, next year, the record will “drop” and the touring will resume!! i am very excited to continue the work at a furious pace, but i am beyond joyous that i have been able to spend virtually all of my time with my wife and our daughter in this amazingly precious phase.
